Spanish tabloid Marca brought out the big guns on Sunday and Monday morning, declaring that the back heel that Guti did against Deportivo La Coruña on Saturday evening was one of the best they had ever seen. Godlike was one of the descriptions. They even tried to compare this one to the “taco” of Alfredo di Stefano in his debut season, and the marvellous pass by Fernando Redondo against Manchester United in 2000.
This was not of such a high standard. It was an easy back heel, because Guti had no one near him and only the keeper to beat. The other two back heels created something out of nothing, especially the one Redondo did. To say that this was one of the best plays a man ever saw, is a disgrace to football and a disgrace to football artists.
I mean come on, even Guti himself already made a much better back heel in 05/06! Watch for yourself!
